Mumbai Greening Plan

Scientific Greening for a Liveable Mumbai

The Mumbai Greening Plan is a comprehensive, city-wide strategy to reach 40% nature coverage by 2030 — using proven, science-led methods already transforming neighbourhoods across the city. Scientific Greening places the right species in the right locations, creating green cover that functions as infrastructure: cooling streets, holding rainwater, sustaining biodiversity, and improving quality of life for all Mumbaikars.

Across five intervention categories — residential societies, heat-vulnerable neighbourhoods, fragmented parks, municipal schools, and existing ecosystems — our proof-of-concept projects show a greener Mumbai is not aspirational. It is achievable, scalable, and already underway.
